  • A University of California study found that the cost of reducing CO2 by one pound is 0.3 to 1.3 cents for planting a tree; 2.5 cents per pound by increasing the energy efficiency of appliances, and 10 cents per pound to build more fuel-efficient cars. According to American Forests, an acre of trees uses about 2.6 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
